why don't you pray about it?

Read Philippians Chapter 4 "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6 So...why don't you pray about it?  I don't mean that as a suggestion, I mean it as an honest question. If you're troubled about ANYTHING at all, why do you not pray about it before: - worrying - venting - complaining - panicking - despairing and most importantly, trying to solve the problem in your own power.   It's a rhetorical question. Daily life is an unending onslaught of problems, some comically small and some tragically huge.  "Man is born to trouble as the sparks fly upwards," Job's friend Eliphaz observed.  "In this world you will have trouble," Jesus tells...

Stand on that Word

Read Hebrews 2, 10, 11 "Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we profess, because He who promises is faithful"⁣⁣ //Hebrews 10:23⁣⁣So I had a revelation I want to share with you all.... this morning, I was talking to the Lord and He reminded me that Noah never had a fan club, but he had one word from God and that was enough to keep building the arc... Abraham's wife sarah laughed at the word they gave abraham the year before isaac came... again, he believed the word that God gave him anyways.... ⁣⁣⁣⁣I'm saying this to say that if you have just one word (or in some cases, many) that you're waiting on, that one word is...

how and when to pray

Read 1 Thessalonians Chapter 5. "Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night." George Herbert When should you pray? Here are some ideas: First thing when you wake up in the morning, thank God for a new day.  Our tendency is to immediately do a "worry inventory" the moment we wake up - what was I worrying about last night? What stress am I anticipating today? Instead of focusing on your worries, begin the day with a blessing. "I speak to this day and I call you blessed.  I declare that I serve a mighty God who today will do exceedingly and abundantly more than I can ask or consider." As you drink your morning tea or...

daniel fast: stay strong in your faith

Read Daniel chapter 3 There are challenges in life that define the person you are, obstacles that challenge your faith and take every last piece of you to overcome. After crying out to God and surrendering every last thing you have, all you have left is your faith. In the book of Daniel, we are introduced to three men who are faced with an obstacle that challenges every fiber of their faith. After refusing to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gods, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are told they will be thrown into a furnace if they don’t obey the king and submit to his gods. We don’t know much about how these men were feeling or what they prayed to God for, but...

bless and do not curse

Read Romans Chapter 12. "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse." Romans 12:14 In this life, people will be unkind to you. People have myriad different ways to mistreat you, look down on you, or make you feel bad about yourself. And the natural impulse is to hate them right back, and feel perfectly justified in doing so.  But resenting people, as the saying goes, is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. Resentful, angry, bitter, judgmental thoughts poison your mind and heart, and separate you from God.   That's why Jesus said we are to love our enemies and pray for them.  Our sinful nature will give us a hundred reasons why we are justified to think badly about someone, but Jesus' instructions to...
